Don't nock it 'til you tried it!

Today's post is all about trying something new...

Firstly, here's the new deck today...
Almost done, just one more little section. We had to get more wood LOL  Not because of bad cuts this time but because we didn't expect it to use so much! Not quite sure what we're going to do about railings yet. It's so big! Hubby said it's big enough to fit a gazebo on it! LOL  Bummer part of this weekend is that on Saturday, after we've done all we were going to do with the deck, our motor for our home cooler went out! Had to order it on line to get the right dimensions and HOPEFULLY it will be here tomorrow! Fan's blowing, sweat falling, just miserable. Right now at 7:25p.m. it's still 86 outside. Just glad we don't live in Las Vegas right now!(sorry cuz)
I've been wanting to make laundry soap for quite some time now. I think I purchased all of the items a month and a half ago but we had to burn through the liquid soap we still had and it's only the two of us now.  I got the idea from Mary Jane at the Beehive Cottage. Her's is much prettier. My color is very pale purple so it kinda blends in.

Bonus!!! The 4lb baking soda box had a measuring scoop! Just 2 tablespoons is all they say to use so...I added a little more because I have a huge tub. I didn't take into account that I have a water saver washer too. Less is more for sure with that selection.
ooops, this is a little more then needed
Who would have known that soap dries out here in Nevada! haha I used it any way because I think it would still work just as good. I only used 1 dry soap bar and 2 fresh. They are Lavender scented and right now with the first load, it smells wonderful!
If you have little cuts in your hands... WEAR GLOVES! It stings a bit with the baking soda :0(

1/2 a cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle so they don't cling or have static... no smell at all when done!

Then while I was putting in my first load, hubby made dinner. Left over steak from our BBQ last night, a couple of eggs and rice with ketchup.
YES ketchup! (don't knock it 'til you tried it)  I've been using ketchup on my rice for breakfast type meals for over 20 years and LOVE it! My girls put it on and my Mother In-Law (who is 1/2 Chinese) said it wasn't too bad (sac-religious maybe but good).

Thanks for sticking through this loooonnnng post!

Yeah, I am so thrilled you decided to make a batch of the laundry detergent! I've been using it now 4 years and still LOVE it! It's a good thing!
